Custom bikes in Dallas–Fort Worth
Built around the miles you want to ride.
A fast road bike. A gravel bike for the long way home. A mountain bike for your favorite trails. Bring us your goals—and let’s turn them into a thoughtful build.
Visit our independent bicycle shop in Grapevine to compare possibilities, work through fit and discuss the parts that matter to you. We serve riders from Dallas, Fort Worth and across the Metroplex, as well as customers planning a visit from elsewhere in the country.
A custom build can start with a production frame and your choice of compatible components. Certain brands and models also offer custom paint or made-to-measure geometry. We’ll help you understand the difference and choose the right route.
A real Mad Duck build · Armando’s Factor LANDO XC
The right bike. Built his way.
Armando came to us looking for something unique. We landed on the Factor LANDO XC—but none of the offered builds had the combination he wanted.
So we used the base bike as our starting point and built it his way. We changed the suspension to RockShox Flight Attendant, chose ENVE M5 Pro mountain-bike wheels, and fitted Shimano XTR brakes. Instead of asking Armando to work around a standard parts list, we brought his preferences into the build.
- Suspension
- RockShox Flight Attendant
- Wheels
- ENVE M5 Pro
- Brakes
- Shimano XTR
The result was a Factor LANDO XC with the equipment Armando wanted to ride. It’s a real-world example of what a custom build can mean: start with the right platform, then work through the details until the complete bike feels like yours.
This is what we love doing at Mad Duck. Listening to what matters to a rider, bringing the choices together, and turning a great starting point into something personal.
Armando’s bike is an individual customer build. We’ll confirm compatibility, options, pricing and timing for your own project.

Before we begin
Custom-bike questions, answered.
Can you build a bike around my budget and riding goals?
Yes. Start with the kind of riding you love, what you want to improve and a budget direction. We’ll discuss a suitable frame and compatible parts, then work toward a specification you can review. A focused upgrade to your current bike may also be worth considering.
What does a custom bike build include?
A custom build can combine a production frame with selected wheels, drivetrain, gearing, cockpit and contact points. Custom paint and made-to-measure geometry are separate options offered by particular brands and models. We’ll explain which choices apply to the bike you’re considering.
Can I choose my wheels, drivetrain and cockpit?
Yes, where the frame and components allow it. We’ll review wheel and tire clearance, drivetrain and brake compatibility, cockpit fit and the details needed for the complete bike. Your preferred parts and any alternatives are agreed as part of the build specification.
Can I get custom paint or custom geometry?
Some models offer these options. ENVE Custom Road is one route to custom geometry and a personal finish; Factor’s Prisma paint program offers another way to personalize selected bikes. A custom component build does not automatically include custom geometry or paint. Ask us to confirm the options for your model.
How much does a custom bike cost?
The price depends on the frame, wheels, components, finish and work involved. Share your budget early so we can discuss where it will make the most difference. Contact us for a proposal for your particular build; confirm the specification, total price and order terms before proceeding.
How do you determine my frame size and fit?
We start with your riding goals, current bike and position, and any existing fit report. Frame size is only one part of the result: saddle position, crank length, bars, stem and other contact points also matter. Ask about a bike-fitting appointment before finalizing a new frame or build.
How long will my custom build take?
Timing depends on frame production, paint, parts availability and workshop scheduling. We’ll discuss an estimate for your proposed specification. Confirm the current timing before ordering, and wait for confirmation that the bike is ready before booking a pickup trip.
Can I visit before choosing my build?
Yes. Contact us with your ideas and proposed visit date so we can plan a conversation at the shop. Ask which models and sizes will be available to view; website listings can include special-order bikes. Please wait for us to confirm your appointment before making a special trip.
Can you help if I live outside Dallas–Fort Worth?
Yes. Start by phone or through our contact page with your riding goals, current bike, fit information and build ideas. We can discuss the project before you travel. In-person appointments, pickup, and any shipping or delivery options must be confirmed for your bike, destination and applicable brand policies.
What support is available after I collect the bike?
Talk with us about setup questions, adjustments and ongoing maintenance. Before ordering, ask us to confirm what is included with your build, any additional service charges and how the relevant brand’s warranty process works. We also offer a dedicated bike service and repair page.
Can I join a Mad Duck ride during my visit?
Explore our rides, races and events, then check with us about the current schedule and a ride that suits your pace and experience. Confirm the meeting point, distance and ride policy before joining.
